Biblical Fine Arts - Photography - Lesson 5
HI Biblical Photography Students!
The most important story in the Bible for Christians is found in Matthew 26-28 and Luke 22-24 various parts of John 18 - 21. In these passages, we find the Passion Narrative. (The accounts of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Our Savior Jesus Christ.) One of the things that strikes me most about this is the extremes emotions that are expressed. First the disciples are in shock that one of them would betray Our Lord. Then Jesus is praying and sweating tears of agony, while some disciples are sleepy. Then as Jesus is being tried and scourged, Peter is afraid, Mary is probably very sad, Judas is full of regret, the people are raging with anger, many people were probably very confused. As Jesus carries his cross, he is tired as he falls and someone is sympathetic towards him along the way. On the cross, another crucified is angry while another is humbled and full of regret. After HE dies, many people had many different emotions, but not everything is negative... three days later HE rises from the dead and a whole new set of emotions begin... awe, joy, doubt, peace to name a few.
Imagine if you were there watching, what emotions would you be feeling. In this passage, what part of it stands out for the most? Is it the Agony in the Garden, the Scourging, the Crown of Thorns, Carrying the Cross, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection? Which part strikes you the most?
Now what are you going to do with these emotions?
Biblical Photography Assignment #5:
1. Photograph 3-5 photos that express your emotions to the passage. (If you take photos of other people, be sure to obtain their permission to have their photos put on the student websites.
This project could be very deep if you allow yourself to get into it. Sharing a part of yourself makes you an artist!
I can't wait to see your projects!
Peace be with you,
Mrs. G.
