Biblical Fine Arts- Photography - Lesson 6
Hi Biblical Photographers,
What wonderful photos!
This week we are going to think about something that Jesus taught us to do. HE taught us to pray. We call it "The Lord's Prayer". It can be found in Matthew 6:9.
Do you know how the Holy Scripture was handed down to us? It was written yes, but at first only the very educated could read. Many years later, when the ability to read was more popular people would pay for copies of the Holy Bible. Now, they didn't run off and copy in their home printers, nor was the printing press in action yet. For many years, the Bible had to be copied by hand. Who did this? Most often this was done by some very holy monks. The monks copied Scripture day in and day out for many years at a time. This tended to become a little let's say "boring".. so what did they do? They made it fun. Often monks would draw pictures on the side of what they were copying, or they would make beautiful letters as they began a verse. They had a lot of fun with it!
Biblical Photography Assignment #6:
1. For your project, you are to take photos that would represent the pictures that the monks might have sketched as they were copying the Lord's Prayer. In other words, you are to photographically illustrate the Lords Prayer with at least 3 photos.
I hope you've enjoyed being "monks in the age of photography" this week!
Peace be with you!
